The Big Coal River Branch

The Coal River Group formed a Big Coal River Committee (called a branch to reflect the groups interest in rivers and streams) in 2008. Long time Board Member Mary Browning a native of Racine, WV. was selected as chairman of the new BRANCH. The goals of the Branch were to bring together local citizens from the Big Coal region for the purpose of "Bringing life back to the Coal Rivers".

The branch recruited members from throughout the Big Coal Region and together they set out to identify problems and opportunities related to the river and streams. They developed a plan of action and the result of their efforts is now a very active group that has worked together to bring about positive changes to the rivers in the region.
