River Center now taking reservations

Coal River Groups River Center

Now taking reservations for education meetings and conferences!

The Coal River Group Science and Education Center is now open for business. The Center can be reserved by government agencies, Schools and Civic Groups. The objective is to utilize the center for educational activities but other events will be accepted on a selective basis.

The new River Center offers:

1000 sq. ft. fully equipped conference room, seating for approximately 40 people, Three large porch areas and parking for up to 40 cars. The building is located on a picturesque bluff overlooking the beautiful Upper Falls of Coal River.

The site can be accessed via Rt 60 to Coal River Road at St. Albans, Corridor G via Coal River Road, South Charleston via Spring Hill Mountain to Smith Creek. The location is the Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission's Meadowood Soccer Complex. No meetings after dark and all park rules must be followed for all events. Camping is not available at this time but plans for the future include camping opportunities for selected events.

Examples of uses approved for rental of the Center include: Sporting events, Nature groups, Hiking and River based fitness events,Family Reunions, Weddings, Civic Club meetings and events and other (non-Alcohol) events.

Costs for Use of the building are as follows:

Private groups and Non Educational activities.....$200 per day with a $50 deposit for cleaning

Civic and Educational groups....$100 per day or donations

School Groups, River Educational activities and similar events will be allowed use of the facilities for a nominal fee.
