Subject: Joe Linville elected to the River Group Board of Directors
Kris Radford, President of the non-profit Coal River Group, has announced that the Board of Directors has elected Joe Linville, a resident of Madison, WV, as a member of the group’s Board of Directors.
“Joe is a kayaker, a community leader and has participated in the Coal River Group’s many river restoration and trail development programs,” says Radford. “We are pleased to have Joe serve on our board and we are sure he will provide leadership and support to the many River and Stream improvement programs the Group has underway.”
Joe is the Purchasing/Warehouse Manager for Seminole Coal Resources and is a lifelong resident of the Madison area. He is a graduate of Scott High and attended Southern WV Community and Technical College.
He is the Audio/Video Technician at Madison Baptist Church where he has held several positions. He is an Eagle Scout and continues to be a volunteer leader for Troop 289 in Madison. He is the Advancement Chairman for the Buckskin Council and served as the Scoutmaster for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree.
His passion for broadcasting and his role as a local sports broadcaster on several venues include the Voice of the Scott Skyhawk’s to a regular co-host on Basketball Friday Night in West Virginia a statewide show for high school basketball
Joe has helped form the Little Coal River Branch of the Coal River Group and heads up a group of community volunteers working to build a cross country hiking trail in his hometown of Madison.
The Coal River Group was established as a 501c3 non-profit group in 2004 and has brought many major changes and improvements to the Coal River Watershed. The Group created the state’s first Water Trail (The Coal River Walhonde Water Trail) in 2006 and has conducted education programs and river and stream cleanups for over 13 years. The Coal River Group was selected as the States Watershed of the year in 2009 and again in 2011.
