The Coal River Group hosted a Watershed Festival for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Charleston and St. Albans on Friday, June 29. Though it was the hottest day of the year (and luckily took place before the biggest storm of the year hit that evening!), over 100 kids came out to the CRG River Center in Tornado for a day of fun learning about water.
The festival was structured into seven stations, each covering a different topic related to water: water conservation, flooding, insect identification, fly fishing, sedimentation and water quality, the Coal River, and (most importantly on such a hot day) a splash station! Partnering with the WVDEP's Project WET Program, the CRG event featured presenters from the DEP's Save Our Streams Program, the WVCA, Trout Unlimited, the WV Ministry of Advocacy and Workcamps, WV American Water, the Coal River Group, and Toyota.
